Purpose and Meaning

Personal meaning and fulfillment are often underestimated but can not be ignored for too long before a person begins to feel it.  As humans we have an ability to pursue and create meaning.  Sometimes we do not realize the immense freedom and potential this offers us and we believe we are trapped with the challenges that we face.  By turning attention to exploring meaning and creating meaning in therapy a person can begin to navigate for themselves the directions to go in rather than be subject to self defeating circumstances and beliefs of self.  

Often people find themselves re-evaluating life goals and personal identity at significant times in their lives.  This can both be a hugely empowering opportunity or feeling like an intimidating threat.  By reframing beliefs and self concept through the adaptive lens of meaning people can find that they have options they never realized before.
