As we develop, we learn skills to cope with and manage both ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes these are very helpful adaptive skills and sometimes these are more maladaptive and the skills that get us through but at a cost to ourselves. One part of psychotherapy can include a focus on being aware of our tendencies and the things we tend to do when the going gets tough. Knowing what our tendencies are is just the beginning though and creates wonderful opportunity to expand and grow in the direction that we find needed and meaningful. Often people come to therapy are learn greater and deeper skills including but not limited to the following;
- Assertive Communication
- De-escalation
- Radical Acceptance
- Mindfulness
- Breath Work
